Marcos Nieves is a documentary and narrative film director based in Los Angeles. His films depict character-driven stories that explore multicultural identities and belonging, immigration, queerness, and his lived experiences with them. His latest project, MY QUEERCEAÑERA (2023), won Best Documentary Short at the San Diego Latino Film Festival in March 2024 and it continues to screen at film festivals across the U.S. His previous projects include the 2022 short documentary ZOILA (Philadelphia Latino & Arts Film Festival), and 2018 short documentary series THE RIGHT TO THRIVE

Marcos was born and raised in rural Mexico. He migrated to the U.S. in his early teens. He began his career as an immigrant rights activist and social justice filmmaker. He is a member of the Undocumented Filmmakers Collective and co-founder of La Producción, a production company run by undocumented immigrants. His work has been supported by the Latino Public Broadcasting and the Sundance Institute. He is currently working on his next narrative film project and is available to work as a director, documentary cinematographer, or editor.
